In The Mix #3

I remember I created these “In The Mix” posts to give you, the readers, more insight into the genres of music I’m interested in and immerse myself in and to encourage you to expand your own music collections. Funny I say that, ’cause I just checked and the last time I made one of these posts was AUGUST 2008. Oh jeez LOL. Well, it’s time for the return of “In The Mix”! Check out the 4 tracks below.
~ Fentura - Live It [Klaas Remix] ~
Alright so, over the past month I’ve developed an OBSESSION for electro music. Oh man. Just hearing those beats makes me wanna get up and move. A chunk of my favorite electro songs have to be the ones remixed by Klaas. Just go on YouTube and type in “Klaas Remix” and you’re in for a bass-thumping good time lol. Here’s one of my fave remixes of the moment, Live It.
~ Major Lazer [ft. Mr. Vegas & Jovi Rockwell] - Can’t Stop Now ~
Major Lazer is the fusion of two of the most exciting producers of today, Diplo and Switch (best known for their work with M.I.A. and Santogold). The two came together to create the album Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do. The LP brings the traditional reggae style and spruces it up with some Diplo and Switch magic, making it a party for the ears. Listen to one of my favorite tracks Can’t Stop Now via the link. I don’t remember liking a reggae song as much as I like this. Jovi Rockwell does her thing. Learn more about Major Lazer on their MySpace.
~ The-Dream - Nikki ~
Hands down, the best song off The-Dream’s debut album LOVE/HATE. Man, I love that album. I can listen to it straight through, even to this day. Not even Dream’s latest release Love vs. Money can measure up to the greatness of his first album.
~ A.R. Rahman - Latika’s Theme ~
This song just exudes… peace. It’s the humming song that plays in Slumdog Millionaire when Jamal meets Latika for the first time since their separation as children; when he finally finds her. For me, when I listen to this song (especially having watched the movie, and knowing the situation associated with the song), it takes me to this place… just makes you sorta appreciate life, you know? Makes you sit there and reminisce about good times.
