The North American leg of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way Ball Tour” begins Jan. 11 in Vancouver, B.C. The singer has been on the road since April 27 of 2012 performing all over the world—Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America.

Her upcoming tour of the U.S. and Canada will have her Gaganess visiting 26 cities.

The reigning queen of pop is touring behind her 2011 release, Born This Way. The New York native is planning on releasing a fresh opus, Artpop, in 2013.

“Born This Way Ball Tour” coincides with the trek of a famous piece of Lady Gaga memorabilia. Yes, you guessed it, her meat dress.

The veal garment is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s traveling exhibit “Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power.”

The exhibit will be in Washington D.C. until Jan 6. Then it travels to Omaha, Seattle, and Phoenix. Gaga’s “Born This Way Ball” doesn’t visit Omaha, it does go to Seattle’s neighbor southern neighbor Tacoma (Jan. 14), and it will be in Phoenix on Jan. 23.

In 2010, Lady Gaga attended the MTV Video Music Awards wearing an outfit (including shoes) made entirely out of Argentinian beef.

Gaga wore the rare-done vestment to represent “equality.” Yeah, I know. I don’t get it either. According to her, the meat dress had something to do with prime rib and “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” It sounds like a bit of a stretch to me but if it works for her.

She got the idea to wear meat from Valium Garland. The famous makeup artist wore beef in the 1970s (which explains everything you need to know about the decade). My guess is Lady Gaga decided to wear meat and then came up with an explanation, but like I wrote earlier, whatever works.

I think a small part of Gaga wishes she hadn’t worn it. The dress attracted a lot attention meaning a lot of people only know her because of the meat dress—it still overshadows the time she arrived to the Grammy Awards in an egg. I’m sure she gets tired of so many people constantly reminded her about what she wore that memorable night in 2010 instead of her music.

Now, you just can’t put a beef dress on a mannequin and sell tickets. To get the garment ready to show it was sent to American Taxidermy in California (which I think is the taxidermist to the stars). There it was treated with chemicals and put on a mannequin to dry.

After it dried, the dress didn’t look like it did when Gaga wore it. Instead, it looked like beef jerky. To make it look like fresh it was painted.

In my opinion, the dress doesn’t look a thing like it did when it originally hung off of Lady Gaga’s shoulders and I’m not alone in that belief. Many of those who’ve seen it on display say it looks like plastic.

Regardless, the dress IS a piece of rock and roll history. Whether or not it’s the next best thing to seeing Lady Gaga in concert remains to be seen.
